Back on Track

Well guys I’m tired, sore, stiff and exhilarated!  My friend Barry and I drove up to Reno this Friday to do a track day with Keigwin and it was a BLAST.  Sure, it was a lot of work (mostly for Barry – so a major thank you to him) to prepare, load and then drive up to the desert.  But after a LONG drive out from the Bay Area (through Sacramento rush hour ugh) we got to Reno safely and met up with fellow rider Brian.  The next day Chris (who happens to be an instructor) was kind enough to spend a session leading me around and showing me some dramatically different lines than I had been taking.  My confidence went up tremendously as I realized the VFR was perfectly at home on the track and even more so as I passed plenty of other folks.  (Yes!)

All in all a great day.

Mabel and I took Nicky to an art fair next door at the Triton Museum on Sunday.  It was very pleasant – not only for the art and music, but the training service dogs that were there.  A couple of the younger ones perhaps failed their obedience test for the day but being kissed by some really sweet black labradors was nice.  I wish them all to graduate to helping lead blind people – all of them would be great companion doggies.

Since neither of us were up for a long drive or a hectic day, so we ran a couple of errands and played a little ping-pong.  Mabel, perhaps due to my lingering soreness *cough* beat me two games to one.  Nicky was very impressed.   Oh – I added another video last week, but I didn’t link it.  You can check it out here, along with pictures of the track day here.  Enjoy!
