“Burt! My mouth’s bleedin’, whadaya know?!?!”

Ruthless or Toothless?Ok, it’s my fault.

Well, gravity certainly played a part.  As did what’s called vasovagal syncope – medically speaking it’s your body dropping the mic and saying “oh, sorry – were you vertical?  Yeah well we’re gonna go ahead and have some ground-time for ourselves”.  So in between thinking “hey, I think I should perhaps lay down on the ground since the world is getting a little dim” and…well, there was no other, next thing I knew I was wondering what I was looking at (our bathroom tile, up close and personal) and what I was feeling (the grit in my mouth that used to be pretty bits of my teeth) ..sorry, that was a little grim.  Even more fun, the abdominal pain that had woken me up moments before was…gone.  Just, gone.

I’ve just realized it was more or less like my body doing an off-off-off Broadway impression of Ray Batty – “wake up, time to faint”.  Weird.

So off to urgent care we went…my amazingly even keeled wife (later she admitted that her trip to the living room was less “look up info online” and more “try not to pass out/puke” – but I’m not so sure that urge isn’t present when I look “normal” so who knows.

Medical stuff was all fine thankfully and after calling out amazing dentist on her day off (the Saturday just after Christmas) I was getting a benzocaine cocktail via syringe and having my chompers patched up.

Not a fun way to start a day, if you’re considering it.  It did, however, inspire my to take up my long dormant keyboard which is nice.  I’ve missed it.
