So Hard To Leave

So after a hectic, wonderful, tiring and amazing week with Nicky, Mabel’s mother and since Friday her father Oscar, it was time to go back to work today.

It was (as it has been all week) a night of brief stretches of sleep interspersed with diapers, feedings and general baby maintenance.  The difference is, this time we weren’t able to dawdle in bed for a little longer or spend the morning making a leisurely breakfast.  Nope, it was reality time.  As I got up, Mabel had just given Nicky something to eat and he was dozing. She cuddled in and promptly joined him under the nice warm blankets.  I couldn’t help but take a picture.  It was just beautiful seeing the two of them in such a trusting, loving embrace.

As it was, Mabel was very nice and visited me at the office for lunch.  Let’s face it, I’m hooked on the little guy.
