First Disney Visit

Ok kid, I’ll make this brief.  Your Mom loves Disney.  Loves it.  Loves the parks, loves the songs, loves the music and loves the characters.  What does that mean, exactly, to you?

It means you will too.

Yep.  Despite Dad’s cynical view of corporate marketing to children, suspicions on the motives of cartoon producers and overall wariness towards the “business” of fun, you’ll eventually (heck probably sooner than later) find yourself at Disney.  So in light of that eventuality, allow me to suggest something to you.  Enjoy it.  Not the $9 bottles of water (yes, the value price for anything with Mickey® on it) but rather the sentiment behind it.  There is a different perspective as a soon-to-be-parent at Disney.  You see the kids.  All the hundreds, thousands of kids walking (or being pushed) around with parents.  Those kids have no idea about quarterly earnings, revenue targets or other business stuff – they are just amazed to actually SEE the characters they love in person.  Think of it.  They have no concept that they’re seeing “costumes”, as far as they know that is really Pluto, or Goofy or whatever.  It’s wonderful.  Some get a little scared, some are shy – but most light up with absolute joy to meet their favorite movie stars.  They also absorb the park around them as a world of wonder with the innocence only kids can have.

So when you see your Mom bouncing along right with you, realize that she too was once (and in her heart still is) a happy little kid experiencing her favorite place.  Have fun.
